Builth Wells (Llanfair-ym-Muallt) is a small market town set in beautiful countryside beside the River Wye in Powys, Mid-Wales.

The present choir started life in 1968 as "Builth Wells Cricket and Rugby Club Male Voice Choir" and gave its first performance in nearby Garth on April 20th 1970. The Choir's title was, mercifully, shortened to the present one around 1980.

The Choir draws its members from the townspeople, the local farming community and from the widely scattered area of Powys for which the town is a focal point. The Choir has charitable status and gives concerts in support of various causes in locations throughout the UK and, in the last few years, has toured in Holland, France, Germany and Eire.
